A video has emerged showing British Foreign Minister James Cleverly and his delegation seeking refuge as rockets were fired in the vicinity during his visit to southern Israel. Cleverly’s visit came in the wake of a Hamas attack that triggered air raid sirens.
The video captures the moment Cleverly and a group of individuals ran for cover, seeking safety in a nearby building as the air raid sirens blared in the town of Ofakim. The Israeli foreign ministry confirmed that the sirens were activated to alert citizens of an incoming Hamas rocket attack.
Cleverly’s visit to Israel was described as an expression of the United Kingdom’s unwavering support for the country in the face of recent attacks by Hamas. A spokesperson from the UK’s foreign office explained, “The Foreign Secretary has arrived in Israel today to demonstrate the UK’s unwavering solidarity with the Israeli people following Hamas’ terrorist attacks. He will be meeting survivors of the attacks and senior Israeli leaders to outline UK support for Israel’s right to defend itself.”
The United Kingdom, along with its Western allies, has expressed support for Israel and condemned the attacks launched by Hamas.
