Abubakar Tahiru, a 29-year-old forestry student from Ghana, has made headlines by breaking the Guinness World Record for the most trees hugged in an hour. His incredible achievement, which saw him embrace 1,123 trees at the Tuskegee National Forest in Alabama, USA, has captured the attention of social media users worldwide.
The record-breaking event, documented in a video shared by Guinness World Records, showcased Mr. Tahiru’s dedication to environmental conservation and his love for nature. To qualify for the record, he had to maintain a brisk pace, averaging nearly 19 tree hugs per minute. Each embrace had to be a full and genuine hug, with both arms wrapped around the tree, and no repeat hugs or harm to the trees were allowed.
Speaking about his accomplishment, Mr. Tahiru expressed his gratitude and the importance of highlighting the role of trees in our ecosystem. He emphasized the urgency of environmental conservation, making his record-breaking attempt not just a personal achievement but also a meaningful gesture towards raising awareness.
