In a devastating turn of events, Malaysia witnessed a tragic accident during a rehearsal for the Royal Malaysian Navy parade in Lumut. Two helicopters collided mid-air, leading to the loss of 10 lives. The incident occurred on Tuesday, shaking the nation with grief and shock.

The collision was captured in a video that circulated widely, depicting the helicopters spiraling into a tailspin before crashing. The video also captured the distressed cries of onlookers uttering, “Allah, Allah, Allah” as the tragedy unfolded.

According to reports verified by Malaysia-based Buletin TV3, the collision occurred when the front end of one helicopter collided with the rear rotor of the other, resulting in the fatal crash of both aircraft. Among the victims were 7 crew members from the RMN HOM team and 3 from the FENNEC team.

Senior operations commander from the fire and rescue department, Suhaimy Mohamad Suhail, confirmed the grim news, stating that all 10 individuals on board the helicopters were tragically pronounced dead by medical officers at the scene.

Following the tragic incident, the Royal Malaysian Navy announced plans to establish an “Investigation Board” to determine the cause of the collision. They urged the public not to circulate videos of the event out of respect for the privacy of the victims’ families and to facilitate an unimpeded investigation process.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed deep condolences, acknowledging the profound impact of the tragedy on the families of the Malaysian Armed Forces and the nation as a whole. He assured that an immediate investigation would be conducted by the Ministry of Defense to uncover the circumstances leading to the crash.

The accident occurred during training at the northern Perak state’s naval base in preparation for the RMN’s upcoming 90th-anniversary celebration. The nation mourns the loss of lives and stands in solidarity with the affected families during this difficult time.
