Nepal experienced two mild earthquakes early Saturday morning, but no casualties or damage have been reported, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring Centre.
The first tremor, measuring 4.1 magnitude on the Richter scale, struck Baglung district at 6:20 a.m. The epicenter was located in the Khukhani area, approximately 300 kilometers from Kathmandu.
Earlier, at 3:14 a.m., a 4.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Myagdi district, which is about 40 kilometers from Baglung. The epicenter of this tremor was Muri in Myagdi district.
Nepal is highly prone to seismic activity due to its location along the active Himalayan fault line. While Saturday’s tremors caused no damage, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
In recent years, Nepal has experienced devastating earthquakes, including the 2015 earthquake that claimed nearly 9,000 lives and destroyed thousands of homes and heritage sites.
