
Thiruvananthapuram: Acclaimed director Sajeev Elambal has been awarded a prestigious national honor by Bharath Sevak Samaj (BSS), a national planning board-affiliated organization, in recognition of his remarkable work in documentary filmmaking. The award celebrates his contributions through two significant documentaries, Gurudevan Murukkumpuzhayil and Snehardram.
Gurudevan Murukkumpuzhayil explores the cultural and historical impact of Sree Narayana Gurudeva’s Akshara Prathishta in Murukkumpuzha, while Snehardram highlights the heartfelt stories of the residents of Kottarakkara Marthoma Jubilee Mandiram. Both films have been lauded for their compelling narratives and poignant representation of their subjects.
The award was presented by BSS National Chairman Dr. B.S. Balachandran during a ceremony held at the BSS Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram. Sajeev, whose career began in television, has received multiple accolades for his work, including scripting the world record-winning short film Kutti Daivam.
A native of Elambal in Kollam district, Sajeev is married to Suchithra, and the couple has a son, Ayush Krishna.
