Russian Missile Strike on Ukrainian Hotel Leaves 4 Dead, 32 Injured

Ukraine Faces Renewed Attacks on Civilians and Energy Infrastructure

A Russian missile struck a hotel in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih late on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuries to 32 others. Rescue efforts continued into Thursday morning as emergency workers searched for survivors trapped under the rubble, according to officials.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that a group of humanitarian organization volunteers from Ukraine, the U.S., and Britain had checked into the hotel just before the attack but managed to survive by quickly seeking shelter. Kryvyi Rih, Zelenskyy’s hometown, has been repeatedly targeted since Russia launched its full-scale invasion three years ago.

“Unfortunately, four people were killed in the attack,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram. “We must not pause in putting pressure on Russia to stop this war and terror against life.”

Ukraine’s Emergency Services reported that 19 people had been rescued from the site. Images shared by officials showed rescue teams navigating through debris around the floodlit five-story building, with firefighters using ladders to access the wreckage. The regional governor posted photos revealing that while the hotel was no longer burning, its top floor had been destroyed, leaving the entire structure severely damaged. Among the injured were two children, officials confirmed.

Energy Infrastructure Under Attack

Ukraine’s military stated that Russian forces launched a total of two ballistic missiles—including the one that hit Kryvyi Rih—and 112 drones in overnight assaults across the country.

In the northeastern city of Sumy, Russian drones targeted a postal depot, igniting a massive fire that killed one person and destroyed the facility along with over 2,500 parcels. Images and footage released by Nova Poshta, the depot’s owner, depicted the warehouse reduced to rubble with charred packages scattered across the site.

Additionally, attacks in the southern Odesa region struck energy infrastructure, injuring two individuals, according to the regional governor. Ukraine’s largest private energy company, DTEK, confirmed that the assault damaged its fifth facility in just two weeks. “Russia continues its energy terror of Odesa region,” the company stated on Telegram.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that approximately 10,000 households in Odesa were left without electricity. Restoration efforts were ongoing, with teams working around the clock to restore power to affected areas.

Moscow has repeatedly targeted Ukrainian energy facilities throughout the war, triggering widespread blackouts and causing extensive damage to the country’s power grid. The latest wave of attacks highlights Russia’s continued strategy of crippling Ukraine’s infrastructure while intensifying assaults on civilian areas.
