In a significant development, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Thursday evening that they had conducted a successful operation resulting in the death of a senior Hezbollah commander, Ali Muhammad Al-Dabs, in Lebanon. Alongside Al-Dabs, his deputy Hassan Ibrahim Issa and another Hamas operative were also killed in the strike.
According to IDF statements, Al-Dabs was identified as a “central commander” of Hezbollah’s al-Hajj Radwan Force, a special operations unit responsible for conducting terrorist activities within Israel’s territory. Al-Dabs was notably implicated as one of the masterminds behind the March 2023 attack at the Megiddo Junction in northern Israel. He played a pivotal role in planning and executing numerous terrorist activities against Israel, particularly during the Gaza conflict.
The operation to eliminate Al-Dabs took place in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, where an Israel Air Force strike targeted a military structure belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
The al-Hajj Radwan Force, led by Al-Dabs, specialized in infiltrating Israel’s northern territory, posing a significant threat to national security.
The killing of Al-Dabs comes amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, marked by increased fighting. Earlier in the week, one Israeli soldier lost his life in a rocket attack launched by Hezbollah.
The IDF’s successful strike against Al-Dabs underscores Israel’s commitment to combating terrorism and neutralizing threats posed by Hezbollah and other extremist organizations operating in the region.
