Flight Carrying Bodies of Indians Killed in Kuwait Fire Lands in Delhi

A special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft transporting the mortal remains of Indian citizens who tragically lost their lives in the recent Kuwait fire incident touched down at the Palam airbase in Delhi. The flight arrived on Friday, bringing with it a somber atmosphere as leaders, including BJP MPs Yogendra Chandolia, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Bansuri Swaraj, and others, gathered at the airport to receive the bodies.

Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh, who played a pivotal role in coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities for the swift repatriation of the deceased, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He highlighted the collaborative efforts between India and Kuwait, mentioning discussions held with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister and Health Minister, which facilitated the repatriation process. Singh noted that most of the injured are expected to be discharged from hospitals within 1-2 days, except for one individual in critical condition currently under intensive care.

Providing updates on the injured, Singh mentioned fractures sustained by some individuals in their hands and legs, reassuring that they are receiving proper medical care. He commended the cooperation of the Kuwaiti government, attributing it to the efficient repatriation of the deceased back to India.

This development followed an earlier arrival of bodies at the Kochi international airport via a C130J aircraft, which carried 45 bodies, including 23 from Kerala, 7 from Tamil Nadu, and 1 from Karnataka. The tragic incident in Kuwait claimed the lives of at least 49 foreign workers and left 50 others injured when a fire broke out in a seven-storey building in Mangaf, where 196 migrant workers were residing.
