Hajipur, Bihar – In a remarkable initiative, Dr. Bhaskar, affectionately known as ‘Padman,’ is revolutionizing menstrual hygiene in rural Bihar. As a medical officer and MBBS graduate, Dr. Bhaskar has been working tirelessly since 2019 to provide free medical consultations, generic medicines, and sanitary napkins to underprivileged girls and women.
Every month, Dr. Bhaskar runs a free medical camp in Vaishali, the birthplace of Lord Mahavira, at Paramhans School, educating rural women on menstrual hygiene and distributing free sanitary napkins. Over 6 years, he has conducted over 100 camps, treating 10,000+ patients and empowering countless women with knowledge on menstrual health.
“Menstrual hygiene is a fundamental right, not a privilege,” says Dr. Bhaskar. “I want to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and ensure every girl and woman in rural Bihar has access to quality sanitary products and education.”
Dr. Bhaskar’s dedication has earned him recognition, including the “Bihar Doctor Icon” award from the Governor of Bihar in 2023. His ultimate goal is to open a free hospital in Bihar, providing quality healthcare to all underprivileged individuals.
“Dr. Bhaskar’s work is inspiring and commendable,” says Dr. Ravi Shankar, a senior medical officer. “He is a true champion of women’s health and empowerment.”
Dr. Bhaskar’s selfless service is a testament to his commitment to serving the underserved, inspired by his grandfather’s values. His story is an inspiration to many, and we salute his dedication to creating a healthier, more equitable Bihar.
