In a recent development, a Pakistan Army soldier lost his life while four attackers from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) were neutralized during an attempted assault on the PNS Siddique Naval Air Base in Balochistan’s Turbat district. The attack, attributed to BLA’s Majeed Brigade, was thwarted by Pakistan security forces, as reported by PTI.
The armed militants launched an attack on the naval base from multiple directions, aiming to breach the perimeter. However, swift action from security forces prevented their infiltration into the premises, according to Makran Commissioner Saeed Ahmed Umrani.
The Pakistan Army confirmed that on the night of March 25-26, Baloch militants made an attempt to breach the PNS Siddique Naval Air Base. The coordinated response from security forces and naval troops resulted in the elimination of all four terrorists during a joint clearance operation.
Tragically, a 24-year-old Sepoy from the paramilitary Frontier Corps Balochistan was martyred in the line of duty during the confrontation. Following the attack, security forces conducted a sanitization operation to ensure no other attackers remained in the area.
This incident marks the third major attack this year in Balochistan claimed by the BLA. Previous attacks targeted security forces and installations, including an assault on the Gwadar Port Authority Complex where eight BLA militants were killed in an exchange of gunfire with security forces.
Balochistan, known for its long-standing insurgency and bordering Iran and Afghanistan, has seen multiple instances of violence targeting projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The BLA alleges exploitation of Balochistan’s resources by China and Islamabad, a claim that authorities vehemently deny.
