In preparation for the Amarnath Yatra 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has stepped up security by declaring a no-fly zone over all yatra routes. The restriction, which will remain effective from July 1 to August 10, aims to prevent any aerial threats during the sacred pilgrimage.
Flying Devices Banned: Drones, Balloons, Paragliders Prohibited
To eliminate risks from aerial platforms, the use of drones, hot air balloons, paragliders, and similar airborne objects has been officially prohibited. This directive was issued after a high-level alert from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, warning of possible terror threats targeting the annual pilgrimage.
Massive Security Operation Rolled Out: ‘Operation Shiva’
To reinforce safety on the ground, authorities have launched ‘Operation Shiva’, a comprehensive security mission for the yatra. It includes deployment of armed forces, mobile surveillance units, drones (for security monitoring), and checkpoints across sensitive areas of both Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
Sacred Journey to Start on July 3, Conclude on August 10
This year’s yatra will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 10, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan. The journey to the holy Amarnath cave shrine is considered one of the most spiritually significant treks in India, attracting lakhs of devotees from across the country.
Mandatory Registration and Health Screening in Effect
Pilgrims are required to register in advance and undergo mandatory medical checks to be deemed fit for the high-altitude journey. Health camps, rescue services, and emergency helplines are also being set up to assist yatris throughout the pilgrimage route.
Devotion Under Protection: Yatra to Proceed with Full Vigil
Despite high-security alerts, preparations for the yatra are in full swing. Officials continue to coordinate across departments to ensure that the 2025 Amarnath Yatra is peaceful, well-managed, and spiritually fulfilling.
