The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) successfully recovered the bodies of three Israeli hostages who had been kidnapped by Hamas during an operation in Jabaliya, a city in the Gaza Strip. The hostages, identified as Hanan Yablonka, Michel Nisenbaum, and Orion Hernandez, were reportedly murdered during Hamas’ October 7 attacks on Israel and subsequently taken to Gaza by Hamas militants.
“Hanan Yablonka, Michel Nisenbaum, and Orion Hernandez were murdered during the October 7 Massacre and were abducted to Gaza by Hamas terrorists,” the Israeli army announced on the social media platform X. The joint operation conducted by the IDF and the Israeli Security Agency resulted in the recovery of the hostages’ bodies.
Following the news, the Missing Families Forum issued a statement urging the Israeli government to bring back all the “murdered hostages” to Israel. “The sorrowful return of Michel, Hanan, and Orion is another heartbreak for the 125 families of the hostages, who share the pain, sorrow, and endless worry. Their return for burial provides important closure for the family members, and efforts must be made to bring all the murdered hostages back to Israel,” the forum stated.
The statement from the forum emphasized the need for immediate negotiation efforts to secure the return of all hostages. “The recovery of their bodies is a silent but resolute reminder that the State of Israel is obligated to immediately dispatch negotiation teams with a clear demand to bring about a deal that will swiftly return all the hostages home: the living for rehabilitation and the murdered for burial,” the forum added.
The Israeli army has confirmed the deaths of 37 hostages held by Hamas since the October 7 incident. In total, 121 hostages are believed to be held in Gaza by Hamas, according to Israeli authorities.
Israel’s retaliatory offensive against Hamas in response to the October 7 attack has led to significant casualties in Gaza. The Hamas-run health ministry reports approximately 35,386 deaths resulting from the conflict.
