In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old man from the United States has been arrested after allegedly beheading his 68-year-old father and subsequently posting a gruesome video on YouTube. Justin Mohn was taken into custody in Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, more than 100 miles away from their home, just hours after the horrifying incident.
According to CNN reports, the disturbing video circulated on YouTube for hours before being taken down. In the video, Mohn is seen holding what appears to be his father’s head, accompanied by a politically charged rant. He has been charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and possessing an instrument of crime with intent. Mohn is currently being held without bond.
The gruesome incident came to light when police responded to a call about a deceased male at the Mohn residence. Denice Mohn, Justin’s mother, made the distressing call to 911 after discovering her husband’s headless body in their Pennsylvania home. She reported being last at home at 2 pm and, upon her return, noticed her son and her husband’s 2009 Toyota Corolla were both missing.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police found a machete and a large kitchen knife in the bathtub. Michael Mohn’s head was discovered inside a plastic bag within a cooking pot in a first-floor bedroom. Bloody rubber gloves were also found in various locations around the house.
In an affidavit, police referenced the video posted by Justin Mohn on YouTube, where he identifies himself, reads from a written statement, and at one point, holds up what appears to be a bloodied head inside a clear plastic bag. In the disturbing video, he accuses his father, a federal employee of over 20 years, of being a traitor to the country. The video also contains inflammatory remarks targeting various groups and individuals, including President Joe Biden, the Black Lives Matter Movement, and the LGBTQ community.
YouTube swiftly responded by removing the video, citing a violation of their graphic violence policy. A spokesperson stated that Justin Mohn’s channel was terminated in line with their policies against violent extremism.
Justin Mohn was apprehended in Fort Indiantown Gap, armed at the time but not resisting arrest. He was arraigned via video, and a judge ordered him held without bond. The next hearing is scheduled for February 8, shedding light on the tragic events and their aftermath that unfolded on this unsettling day.
