A rapidly spreading wildfire has erupted in Pittman Center near Gatlinburg, Tennessee, prompting urgent evacuation orders in several areas, including Cobbly Nob and Webb Mountain. The fire has already consumed over 200 acres, raising concerns among residents and emergency officials.
According to meteorologist Kyle Grainger, who reported on X, the wildfire has forced evacuations along multiple roads, including Pittman Center Road, Laurel Creek Road, Old Happy Hollow Road, and Pinnacle Vista Road. The East Tennessee Weather Network confirmed that evacuations are underway across Sevier and Cumberland counties due to the growing threat.
The Sevier County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has issued evacuation orders for key locations, including Tower Road, Bluff Mountain Road, Cobbly Nob, Pittman Center, and Webb Mountain. Meanwhile, Cumberland County EMA has also called for evacuations along Browntown Road.
For affected residents in Cumberland County, Pleasant Hill Elementary School at 486 E Main Street has been designated as a shelter for those in need. Emergency response teams are actively working to contain the fire and ensure the safety of residents.
