Heavy rainfall in China’s northeastern Liaoning Province has led to devastating floods, resulting in 11 confirmed deaths and 14 individuals reported missing. The torrential rains, which have battered the region in recent days, prompted a press conference on August 23 in Huludao City to address flood prevention, control, and disaster relief efforts.
According to state broadcaster CCTV, the severe weather has inflicted significant damage across Huludao City, particularly impacting Jianchang County and Suizhong County. The floods have caused widespread disruption, affecting roads, electricity, communications, housing, and agriculture.
The press conference revealed that the disaster had resulted in 10 confirmed deaths and 14 missing persons. Additionally, an official involved in the rescue operations also lost their life while attempting to save others.
Authorities have launched intensive search and rescue operations to locate the missing individuals, with all-out efforts being made to address the crisis. Over 50,000 residents have been evacuated from Huludao as a precautionary measure, following several days of relentless rainfall.
The ongoing flood situation highlights the urgent need for continued disaster response and relief efforts in the affected areas, as local and national agencies work to mitigate the impacts of the severe weather.
